First-of-its-kind System Intends to Deliver Charging Ecosystem Players a Centralized Hub for Ongoing Compatibility Testing for the EV Industry

IBM,  Terbine and the American Center for Mobility (ACM) announced the establishment of an industry-wide open-source platform to provide interoperability testing for vehicle and charger manufacturers, charging network operators and others who make up the “EV Ecosystem.” The initiative’s goal is to eliminate many of the problems plaguing the electric vehicle charging landscape.

“It’s not enough to simply switch plug formats if we want EV charging to be as seamless and dependable as pumping gas has been for decades,” said Brenda Cucci, Senior Partner for Global Sustainability with IBM. “The industry needs a means to continually test all the elements involved with the ‘electron supply chain’ as software and hardware get updated, to ensure that consumers and commercial drivers have confidence in charging infrastructure. This is about accelerating the migration to zero-emission vehicles and the global reduction of greenhouse gas emissions,” Cucci continued.

Recommended AI News: Riding on the Generative AI Hype, CDP Needs a New Definition in 2024

AIThority Predictions Series 2024 bannerThe Interoperability Clearing House (ICH), developed by technology providers IBM and Terbine, will enable manufacturers of both vehicles and chargers to test their latest software at ACM’s main facility in Michigan as well as virtually. Leveraging state-of-the-art artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, the platform is intended to bring ongoing cross-product testing to the EV industry and will be open to participants from around the globe.

Recommended AI News: GiantLeap Capital Invests in Articul8, Intel’s Enterprise Generative AI Spin-off

“It’s time for the EV industry to have a platform for ensuring that everything works together all the time,” says Reuben Sarkar, ACM CEO. “We are the ideal organization to offer that service to companies and government agencies wanting a neutral and open environment for testing.”

A prevailing issue for EV drivers is synchronization errors caused by incompatibilities between the vehicles and the charging units. With Over-The-Air (OTA) software updating becoming common amongst vehicle and charger manufacturers, the problems with interoperability are increasing. The problems multiply as more EV and charging unit models come onto the market.

“Regardless of which connector the chargers and vehicles have – such as the Tesla-created North American Charging Standard, the physical plug is only one element, said David Knight, CEO of Terbine. “Most of the complexity is with how companies interpret the underlying ‘handshake’ protocols and other Realtime synchronization issues. The Interoperability Clearing House is intended to alleviate these issues that are scaring buyers away from moving to electric vehicles.”

Customized for Tally, the foremost accounting system in India, Entera Global stands as the industry trailblazer, introducing the revolutionary concept of bulk actions

Entera Global, a pioneering provider of AI-driven software solutions for accountants for Tally system, has unveiled an innovative software update, striving to unify its system for managing complex accounting documents. By collaborating closely with numerous clients and over a hundred practicing accountants, Entera aims to streamline what’s known as bulk actions—a method where accountants handle not just one but upwards of 100 documents simultaneously.

These advancements are tailored for India’s most prevalent accounting system, Tally. Ensuring accurate recognition and seamless upload of documents into Tally is paramount. The current existing on the market solutions allow for handling one document at a time. However, with this latest Entera update, accountants can now select up to 100 documents in one go, viewing a unified file with data refined to meet the company’s standards, all made feasible through Machine Learning based on previously entered data.

AIThority Predictions Series 2024 bannerThis bulk processing significantly expedites workflows; managing these 100 documents collectively is far swifter than the arduous one-by-one manual approach. Studies conducted by the company highlight a tenfold reduction in time spent on document processing through bulk actions. For instance, the average time to process an Indian document is approximately 10 minutes. Indian accounting firms typically manage from 1000 to 1500 documents monthly. Without Entera, handling 500 documents would consume 5000 minutes, equivalent to two working weeks. With the latest functionality, this processing time is condensed to two working days, allowing individuals to focus on more pivotal company tasks.

Presently, documents can be sent directly from the scanner to the Entera system with a single keystroke. With these new features, accountants can seamlessly connect and upload to Tally within minutes, a stark contrast to the previously time-consuming process. We take pride in pioneering bulk action automation at the entry, upload to Entera, and notably, in the final document output to Tally.”
